Alembic / Object Technologies Offers Pentium OpenStation for NeXTStep
ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO - December 1, 1994. Alembic / Object Technologies,
Inc. announced today the release of the first of its new Alembic
OpenStations for NEXTSTEP / OpenStep.
"This hardware portion of our bundled NEXTSTEP Complete Solution
Systems (NCSS) provides a means to bring NEXTSTEP to even the most
budget conscious consumer", says Jim Pratt, President of Alembic
/ Object Technologies, "We now have a robust Pentium machine which
provides a economical solution for NEXTSTEP in addition to our line
of Canon object.stations and Hewlett-Packard PA-RISC workstations".
The Basic OpenStation is a 90 MHz Pentium based system designed as
an inexpensive deployment workstation while still providing the
performance necessary to operate in a NEXTSTEP networking environment.
The Basic Development OpenStation is built around the need for
multiple threads and extensive object libraries and development
tools. The OpenStation is also designed with expandibility in mind,
and can be converted for use as a low-cost server.
Alembic provides a complete line of hardware as part of their
NEXTSTEP Complete Solution Systems (NCSS). Bundle configurations
exist for all needs as well as customized indiviudal and network
systems.
Alembic, in addition to offering the new OpenStation, has arrangements
in place to offer several solution specific software bundles ranging
from a Basic Student Package which includes both NEXTSTEP User and
Development environments (including Enterprise Objects Framework)
and over 600 Mb of software on three CDs, to a fully loaded Internet
Graphics Package which includes all the software for applications
development, Internet access, and Graphics / Presentation Design.
Users may choose to go for a more science oriented product which
is why Alembic also supplies an Internet Science Package which
includes all the latest software for Graphics / Presentation Design,
Mathematical and Statistical Modelling, as well as the Internet
Connectivity Tools.
For the commercial user, Alembic, also has specially packaged Basic
User, Basic Developer, Advanced Developer , and Power Development
Systems. Leasing is available for commercial and institutional
clients.
All systems are pre-configured to run directly out of the box, and
requires only minimal adjustments to activate the Internet functions
according to the user's environment.
"The OpenStation is the latest chapter in bringing NEXTSTEP to the
everyday user. We believe NEXTSTEP is an operating system which
should be acceptable to both indivduals as well as companies. With
the support of our vendors, the NEXTSTEP advantage will become more
than just leverage, it will become accessability. We have dedicated
ourselves to this task, and in addition to the dedication our
strategic partners have shown to servicing the NEXTSTEP community,
we will provide the highest level of support and service available
anywhere."
